Fr.O Neills 1:12 v Valley Rovers 1:13

In our first outing in the Div. 2 Hurling Lge. We welcomed Valley Rovers to Aghavine on Sunday last. We played with the elements in the first half and went in leading by 8pts. to 7 at half time. The second half was even enough until we took a strong foothold in the game courtesy of a goal midway through from here to the end we traded scores only for valleys to get a goal of their own late on to win by a pt. Both Teams were guilty of some poor misses from advantageous positions through out the game in what was a good tough hours Hurling with some serious commitment from both Teams with the step up to Division 2 very evident from our point of view both from the pace of play and speed of Hurling on show. The performance was very pleasing from the Managements point of view and it definitely deserved a share of the spoils.

A wet and windy Aghavine was the venue for this first game in the East

Football league. Playing with the aid of the wind we went in at the break

leading by two points to no score , points courtesy of Conor Lee and Peter

Hassett.

Playing into the elements with a two point lead you felt this slender lead

would not be enough, but great defensive work from Sam Shanahan and

Matthew Cody kept Aghada at bay. This seemed to inspire all the

the other players and a goal from John Millerick midway through the second

half was to kill this game off as a contest.

A good week for the under sixteen footballers as they got their league

campaign under way with a comfortable win over Erins Own. O'Neill's got

some early scores and by halftime we had a very healthy lead. The game

as a contest was over at this stage and further scores in the second had us running out as worthy winners.
