Premier Intermediate Hurling C/ship.

Unfortunately defeat was our lot on Sunday last in Pr. Ui Rinn in the 1st rnd. of this year’s Premier Intermediate Hurling C/ship. v Charleville. A sluggish start was Charleville open up a 6 pt. gap before a well worked goal brought us back into the game and we headed to the dressing room 3 pts. down having upped our game as the first half progressed. We turned to play with a slight breeze to our backs and slowly but surely clawed our way to level the game with less than 10 mins to go unfortunately from being in an attacking position the ball broke down the field it wasn’t dealt with and bang a Charleville goal which undid all the good work which had been done up to then, but great credit to our lads they came again and struck for a goal of our own in injury time but alas the clock was against us and when excellent Referee Colm Lyons blew the full time whistle it saw us behind on a scoreline of 1:16 to 2:12. Looking back on the game itself the gifting of some very soft scores by us early in the game to Charleville coupled with some very poor misses by us right throughout  the game made our task very difficult still with a few tweaks here and there we should be well up to the difficult task that is Castlelyons in rnd. 2b, so heads up lads we’r still in the C/ship. and are well capable of progressing further.

East Cork Jnr. A Football C/ship.

On this coming Sat. evening we take on Lisgoold at 7:15pm in Castlemartyr in the ¼ final of this years Jnr. A C/ship. with a place in the ½ final at stake v Glenbower Rvrs. Lisgoold will be formidable opponents with a lot of young good Footballers in their ranks, we can take heart from an impressive victory over Midleton in the last rnd. with the same attitude and work rate required to get the better of Lisgoold so the best of luck to all the Players & Mgmt. Team on the day.

Juvenile Club

Congrats and well done to Ger. Millerick who played at left half back and all involved with the Cork Minor Hurling Team on a comprehensive victory over Waterford on last Weds. the 3rd in Pr. Ui Rinn.

U16 Premier 2a Hurling League.

Fr. O’Neills 3:21 v  Erins Own 2:06.

As the score suggests this was a comprehensive victory for O’Neills in the second

league game of the season. The first fifteen minutes we were on top with Tom Wall operating at full forward causing plenty of trouble for the Erins Own defence, Jake Shine

with two goals saw this game was over as a contest. Brian Kenneally operating at Centreback got some long range frees, We went in at the break 3:15 to 1:02 ahead . Erins Own won the early exchanges in the opening of the second half with two early points and

they put a fine battle in from then on to the finish. Overall this was a fine performance

with some fine long range points a very pleasing aspect of the game. Sam Shanahan

at full back and Brian Kenneally at centre back hit a pile of ball. John Millerick at midfield

put in a fine hour and front Tom Wall & Jake Shine were the pick of a lively

forward line.

U16 Premier 2a Hurling League.

Fr. O’Neills 5:09 v Eire Og 1:06

Our third league game was played in Aghavine on Saturday afternoon last against a

physically strong Eire Og team. As in our previous games we got a strong start. Early

goals from Conor Lee gave us a 3:04 to 0:04 lead after fifteen minutes. Our defence

had a stronghold on the game with Ciaran McHugh deputising in goal bringing off

some great saves throughout. We had a fine lead established for the second half,

Eire Og went for goals but with the likes of Cellan Murphy and David O Neill playing

solidly, our opponents found it hard to make any inroads. Jake Shine, and Nathaphon

Kemthong got further goals to give us a fine victory. We now have three wins from three

games now with a break coming up to the end of June because of the exams. We wish

Matthew Cody a speedy recovery from injury, hopefully he will be back in a week or

two doing light training.
