Premier Intermediate Hurling C/ship. 2017
Congrats and well done to our Intermediate Hurlers & Mgmt. Team on a well deserved victory over Kilworth in the 3rd rnd. of this years Prem. Intermediate Co. C/ship. at a Sun drenched and immaculate Lisgoold venue on last Sunday. We now go onto meet Ballinhassig in the 1/4 final sometime in the middle of August. In what was a very hard working and committed performance our lads were full value for their 15 point win.

Cork Fé21 Hurling 2017
Congrats and well done to the Cork Fé21 Hurlers and our own Deccie Dalton on his MOTM performance on their very late injury time win over our neighbours Waterford, On a night when leadership was required Deccie was 1 of many that stood up to the plate with a haul of 1:12 from, play, sidelines and free's indeed it was his never to be forgotten last puck of the game penalty that finally decided the issue to see Cork win by the narrowest of margins, they now go on to play hot favourites Limerick in the Munster Final on next Weds. the 26th in Limerick. The best of luck Deccie and all involved.

Killeagh GAA Golf Classic 2017

Congrats to our Club Team of Josephine Swayne, Luke Swayne & Seamus Joyce on a superb victory in the Killeagh GAA Golf Classic held in West Waterford Golf Club on Thurs. Fri. & Sat. last week, this is one of the most prestigious and best run Classic's around and huge credit must go the main man himself Mr. Ray Rochford and the Comm. around him for the job that they do also a huge word of thanks to Austin Spratt and his team in West Waterford on the excellent condition of the Course over the 3 days.

Tom Steele R.I.P.
It was with deep sadness that the Club and indeed the Parish learnt of the sad and untimely passing of a true Gentleman, Family man and Clubman Tom Steele on Weds. Morning last, Tom who spent many years as Secretary of our Juvenile Club was always available to help in any way he had to and he carried on his duties up to only a couple of weeks before he passed away.  The crowds that attended both his Removal on Fri. evening and his Funeral on Sat. were a true testament to the esteem in which Tom and his Family are held so to Noelle, Rachel, Pat, Meave & Olan we offer our sincere and deepest condolances with the greatest loss being to his Family.

Respect the Water

Mr. Michael Hegarty Club Chairman presented a donation to members of the RNLI after their presentation & talk on the GAA & RNLI joint venture titled " Respect the Water " last Weds. night in Aghavine, a fine crowd attended on the night with our neighbours St. Ita’s also involved.

Juvenile Club

U18 Premier 2a Hurling Championship First Round.

Fr. O’Neills 4:17 v Aghabullogue 1:08.

Mayfield was the venue for this first round tie played on Tues 11th July last. Aghabullogue

opened the scoring with two early points but a goal from Jason Hankard, a sideline from

William Abernethy and a point from Dominic Barry settled our lads into their stride. A scoring

blitz from in the final fifteen minutes of the first half gave us a 3:10 to 0:05 lead at the

short whistle. In this first half Colin Sloane getting fine points from long range frees was a

feature with John Millerick and Jason Hankard getting further scores. This game as a contest was over with a third goal with eight minutes of second half gone from Jake Shine which  gave us a 4:14 to 0:08 lead, a goal from Aghabullogue in the final five minutes was just a consolation with our lads running out worthy winners.

Team: D. Higgins, B. Kenneally, C. Cuillinane, A. Mcevoy, M. Cody, G. Millerick, O. Steele, A. Leahy, J. Millerick, W. Abernethy, C. Sloane, C. Lee, J. Shine, J. Hankard, D. Barry.

Subs: E. Dorgan, S. Shanahan, E. Mcevoy, David O Neill, T. Wall, C. McHugh, G. Finn. We now play Killeagh / Itas this Thursday evening in Castlemartyr 27th July. This is going to be a much tougher game as it's a local derby the players are putting in great work so come along and support.

U18 Premier 2a Hurling League.

Fr. O’Neills 2:23 v Ballinhassig 2:08.

This was our sixth league game played in Aghavine last Saturday evening. We were able

to pick from nearly a full squad just four players missing from the panel due to injury and

holidays. There was a fine spread of scores from the forwards some well taken points from

all angles giving us a 0.13 to 1.3 lead at the break. We found it hard to score a goal in this first half due largely to Ger Collins the Cork Minor keeper bringing off some great saves. The backs were solid Brian Kenneally clearing alot of ball. Ciarr O Connor, Clive Dunne, and Olan Steele leading a solid half back line. We scored 2.10 in the second half William Abernethy with some fine points from play with Adrian Leahy and Colin Sloane getting in on the act also. A goal from Jake Shine and Jason Hankard gave us a comfortable victory at the end.  We now have one game left against Valley Rovers and a win will be needed here for a chance in the league playoffs. This game served as a very good run out for the lads before the Champ. Game v Killeagh / Ita’s on Thus. Evening.
