Fr.O Neills 1:09 v Dungourney 1:13

We took on Dungourney in the 1/2 final of this years C/ship.in Carrigtwohill on Mon.night last,unfortunately defeat was to be our lot against a more determined and eager Dungourney side.It was evident from the start that the Duns meant business as they had the opening 2 scores on the board our reply to this was an opening pt.from Liam O Driscoll with the Duns repying with 2 more pts.of their own,showing a greater intensity and work rate at this stage Dungourney were in control in most areas of the field which meant we were finding it very difficult to get scores on the board we did so after 20 mins.when Liam fired over a good score from well out the field this was followed by a Paudie McMahon pt.from a free again the Duns replied with a pt.of their own.The first time we managed to get inside the Duns full back line Alan Hayes fired over a good pt.which Dungourney replied to with 2 good pts.of thei own to lead at half time on a score line of 7pts.to 4.Indiscipline was another area that we were struggling with as we conceded 12 frees in the opening half.The 2nd half started as the first with the Duns taking the game to our lads and again were first on the scoreboard with a pt.from a free.we replied with a good pt.from Rob.Cullinane but then disaster struck when a long range free into our square wasn't dealt and with a with a good ground strike from one of the Dungourney forwards the ball ended up in the back of our net which opened up a gap of 6 pts.to the the Duns.

We replied with a pt.from Paudie which was cancelled out by a pt.from Dungourney another fantastic pt.from Paudie from out on the right wing and a free from Liam gave us a glimmer of hope that we might just claw our way back into the game but the Duns had other ideas firing over the next 4 pts.without reply we did manage a pt.from Joe Millerick and a well taken goal from Liam from a close in free late on but this only put a more respectfull look on the above final scoreline,as in the first half our indiscipline was very poor conceding another 14 frees in the 2nd half,this was as poor a performance we have seen from this bunch in a long time with only 3 or 4 of our lads playing any where near their potential and was particularly dissapointing to the the mentors on the night,still we cannot take any credit away from Dungourneys performance on the night with an unbelieveable ammount of passion and spirit on show from their lads.The best of luck to them in the rest of the C/ship.
