Fr.O Neills 1:14 v Youghal 1:11

We took on our neighbours Youghal in the 1/4 final of this years Fé 21 Hurling C/ship.in Killeagh on Tues.the 28th last.We won the toss and elected to play with the gale force wind that was blowing on the night,Youghal were first out of the blocks with a pt.from a free this was cancelled out with a good point from out on the left wing from William Joyce this was soon followed up with a goal from the hard working Rob.Cullinane,from here on we dominated the scoring with some very good scores from play and placed balls with Paudie McMahon the main man scoring 5 pts.3 from frees and 2 very good scores from play.Alan Hayes with a pt.from play,Liam O Driscoll with a 65,William Joyce again and Joe Millerick both from play rounded off our scoring for this half,Youghals reply to these scores were 2 well struck 65's resulting in 2 very good pts.

A worrying concern as the half progressed was the amount of balls we hit wide when the better option was to put the ball into the inside forwards,still we were full value for our half time lead of 1:10 to 0:03.Turning to play with the elements in the 2nd half Youghal rejigged their Team and were first to open the scoring with 2 well taken pts.we replied with 2 pts.of our own1 from play from Rob.Cullinane and another from a free from Paudie McMahon to keep our 10pt.lead,we had plenty of possesion in our forward line around this time but some poor finishing cost us a couple of more pts.from here on Youghal upped the ante and reeled off the next 7 scores 1:06 to be precise it was a case of backs to the wall for all this period with some herioc defending being done by our 6 backs with some great support play from our 2 midfielders Joe.Millerick and Liam O Driscoll,fortunately the clock was on our side and in a rare attack Sub.Fergal Duffy was fouled and Paudie duly fired over the resulting free,we won the resulting puckout and when Mark Hayes got possesion out on the right he slotted over another pt.to put us 3 pts.to the good well into time added on.The Referee brought proceedings to a halt not long after this much to our reflief and we had progressed to a 1/2 Final meeting with Dungourney.
