Fr.O Neills 1:21 v Shandrum 3:10

We played Shandrum in the 1st.rnd.of the Prem.2 Minor C/ship.in Fermoy on Weds.the 4th last.In what can only be described as a great advert for our National game played in a truly sporting fashion we took the spoils after a tremendous hours play.We opened the brightest and were 5pts to 1 up after 10mins.of play with some great scores being taken from all areas of the field,we were begining to take a firm hold of midfield and in doing so we continued to out score our opponents for the remainder of the half to lead at the short whistle 12pts.to 6.Shandrum were fastest out of the blocks in the 2nd.half reducing our lead to 3pts.after grabing the games first goal we replied straight away with a pt.of our own and we continued to pick off some very good pts. before we fired in a very good goal to open up a convincing lead of 9pts.at the midway point of the 2nd half.Shandrum pulled themselves back into the game with another fine goal and a pt.but sensing the danger our boys stuck to their task and fired over 3 more pts.before Shandrum finished out the game with their 3rd goal to leave us ahead on the above score line at the final whistle.

This was as good of a start to the defence of our Title we could have hoped for and we have been rewarded with a bye into the 1/4 Finals which isn't due to be played until the 16th of August.
