Fr.O Neills 1:07 v Glenville 1:03

We have qualified for the semi-final of this years Championship courtesy of a hard earned and well deserved victory over Glenville played in Rostellan on Fri.night the 23rd.We took the game to our opponents from the throw in yet it was Glenville who opened the scoring with well taken point we replied within a minute with a good point of our own scored by Darragh Sexton and soon after Mark Hayes raised another white flag,we continued to attack and were rewarded when Mark O Keeffe was brought down in the small square after a powerfull run through the middle,up stepped Paudie McMahon who expertly dispatched the resultant penalty to the back of the Glenville net,we were taking control of proceedings at midfield at this stage due to some very determined play by both John Barry and Rob.Cullinane which resulted in us adding two more points courtesy of Darragh and Rob.to stretch our lead to 6 points after 25 mins.of the first half,Glenville were to score another point soon after to leave the half time score at 1:04 to 0:02 in our favour. The second half was to bring a more determined effort from Glenville and it was they who were first to score when a ball that should have been cleared by our defence somehow ended up in the back of our net,it was game on now as the saying goes, they added a point 5 mins.later to cut our lead to a point with 10 mins.gone in the 2nd half but as events transpired this was to be their last score of the game. The hard questions were now being asked of our lads and they started to come up with the answers by way of 3 great points scored by Rob.Cullinane,Darragh Sexton and Paudie McMahon in that order in a 5 minute period, another feature of this period of play was some inspiring runs up the field bye our Captain Barry Hayes which had the desired effect in leading to some of these scores being taken, this was to bring the scoring to a finish with both defences on top from here to the finish. This was as tough an encounter as you could expect at this stage of the Championship and it should stand to our lads as they await the winners of the St.Catherines v Cobh game being played on Sunday in the semi-final,well done to our selectors and the team on a very good disciplined and determined performance on the night, and finally a big thank you to Ref.Cathal McAllister on a job well done.
