U11 AND U 12 HURLING AND FOOTBALL REPORT

The matches have been coming thick and fast for our u11 and u12 panel in the last number of weeks. Our U11 team travelled to Ballynoe on the 18th April to play St Catherines in Football having got a few early goals we went on to play well and win on an eventual scorline of 7 goals to 1-5. A few days later on the 21st we travelled to Lisgoold to play Hurling again a few early scores got us on the road to an 8-3 to 2-6 victory. Our next u11 game was football against St. Colmans in Cloyne this time however it was St. Colmans that got 3 early goals to put us on the back foot,  to the players credit we fought back to almost level pegging but St. Colmans ran out eventual winners at a scoreline of 6-4 to 5-2.

On the u12 side of things we hosted Shamrocks in football in Aghavine on 29th April. Shamrocks got the few early points, we got a goal and a point to draw level coming towards half time. But with the aid of a strong wind in the second half they went on to win1-9 to 1-3. Our next outing was against Tracton in Minane Bridge on the 9th of May, early goals and points helped us to lead all through the game, however a late scoring surge by Tracton  meant we were lucky to hang on and win by the smallest of margins 4-5 to 4-4. Watergrasshill came to Aghavine on Wednesday the 13th for a game of Hurling. We hurled with the wind to our backs in the first half, while we enjoyed a good share of possession we were unable to convert this to scores on the board. Watergrasshill made better use or the wind in the second half and ran out winners at 3-7 to 2-2.

Well done to all the players for their commitment at both training and matches to date. We have a busy schedule of matches and training for the remainder of the year so to one and all keep up the hard work.
