Jnr. Hurling Lge. Div. 3

Last sat. the 9th of April will go down as an historic day in the life of our Club when for the first time ever we fielded a third Adult Hurling Team v Ballinacurra in the Jnr. Hurling Lge. Div. 3 in Aghavine. A huge amount of credit must go to the Mgnt. Team of Eugene Kenefick - Manager, Mike ( Bambi ) Pomphrett - Selector and Jason Kenneally - Selector for getting a good core group of Players to get involved and to make this happen. Having played their hearts out they were desperately unlucky when going down by 2pts. on a scoreline of 3:10 to 2:15, serious heart and spirit was on display from all the lads which doesn't surprise when one looks back on these lads when they played underage for the Club, so its onwards and upwards lads and keep up the good work.

Fé 21 B East Cork Football Final

All roads lead to Shanagarry on Sunday next for this years Fé 21 B Football Final. We are pitted against our near neighbor’s Castlemartyr in what should be an entertaining hours Football, we will have to be on top of our game if we are to prevail as Castlemartyr are a well coached and a fast paced outfit who also work hard when not they don’t have the ball. Having had a hard fought win in our semi-final against Glenville this should stand to us going into Sundays decider so the best of luck to all the players and the Mgnt. Team of Billy Murphy – Manager and his fellow selectors Shane Harrington and John Barry.

Reports:

U12 East Football League.

Fr. O’Neills 1:01 v  St Catherines 2:06.

We played this game in Ballynoe and while we tried hard St. Catherines were the better team on the day. Catherines got an early goal to settle the nerves. We had a few chances in the first half unlucky in this period  as we hit the crossbar two times. The half time score was 1:04 to 0:00. With Mark O Neill doing well at the back and Patrick  O Leary getting a grip at midfield we were getting a better supply to the forward line. We scored a goal and a point to get us back in this game. Paudie O Sullivan and Bryan O Mahoney did well in the forward line in the second half but time ran out and St. Catherines ran out the winners.

U14 East Football League.

Fr. O’Neills 3:04 v Aghada 2:08.

This  was a game that we really could have won but we wasted a lot of chances in front of

Goal. The  first half  was even enough with both teams getting some  fine scores. We missed

a penalty and  the  option of going for goals where we had easy point scoring opportunities

were a telling factor in the final result. Aghada got  three  points in a row in the second half

and this gave them a one point victory at the final whistle.

U18A East Football League.

We played two games in the last two weeks St. Vincents and Glenville being the victors

in both games. We had a close game  with St. Vincents losing 3:10 to 2:06. We made the

long  journey to Glenville where the hosts ran out easy winners.

U18 East A Hurling League.

Fr. O’Neills 1:12 v Erins Own 2:11.

A two point defeat was the final outcome in a close fought game played in Caherlag.

Colm Swayne at corner  forward was our top scorer in this game with 1:03 from play. We

went in at the break Erins Own 1:06 Fr. O’Neills 1:03. Eoghan Dorgan scored a point from

play and Adam  Kenneally with three points from frees and Colin Sloane with a point

the second half was very even.  A second goal  from Erins Own was the vital score which

gave them a two point win.

Fr. O’Neills 1:10 v Inniscara 2:12.

Our second league game played in Aghavine  on Sat. last was against a strong Inniscara

outfit. Some fine  points from play from  Inniscara gave  them a five point lead at half time

1:10  to 1:05. We played better  in the second  half  Colin Sloane  getting fine points from frees.

The first half lead of five  points was always a mountain to climb against  a tight Inniscara

defence. We tried hard in this  game and  hopefully in our next  couple of games  we can get

a league victory.

The Best of luck to our U21 Footballers who play Castlemartyr in the East Cork Final next Sunday in Shanagarry at 3pm.
