Jnr. A Hurling C/ship.

Commiserations to our Jnr. A Hurlers on losing out to a more experienced Lisgoold side in the 2nd rnd. of this year’s C/ship. in Cloyne last Sunday evening, this brings our interest in the C/ship. to a finish for this year, we still have 5 Div. 1 Lge. games to play over the coming weeks, the best of luck to Lisgoold going forward.

U16 Premier 2a Hurling Championship.

Fr. O’Neills 2:07 v Carrigtwohill 1:18.

Midleton was the venue for this first round tie in the U16 Hurling Championship. Carrigtwohill

opened the scoring with a point from play, within a minute Jake Shine set up Jason Hankard

for a fine goal. Carrigtwohill reponded with a goal and a point, but Jake with a ground shot

to the net made it 2:02 to 1:05 after twenty minutes. A couple of frees from William Abernethy and some points from Carrigtwohill saw the scoreline at half time Fr. O’Neills 2:04 to Carrig.

1:09. We were happy to be only two points down at this stage as Carrigtwohill had alot of

the play in the first half. A William free and a point from play from Jason kept us in contention which meant Carrigtwohill had a two point lead with 12 minutes to go in the second half. The Carrigtwohill defence played well in the second half and that badly needed goal never came. We began to lose our shape and Carrig. got five points from play and two frees which gave them a comfortable lead which they held until the final whistle. We now have a loser round game against Watergrasshill on Monday night the 25th a big improvement will be needed to overcome this opposition.

Team: D. Higgins ,S. Shanahan, C Cuillinane, S O Riordan, B Kenneally, W Abernethy, E Mcevoy, P Hassett, M Cody, C Lee, A Mcevoy, J Millerick, J Shine, J Hankard, T Wall, S Walsh, E Bernard, D Mcallister, B Coleman, E O Keeffe, T Collins, CMcHugh, C Murphy,

U18 Premier 2A Hurling Championship.

Fr. O’Neills 0:13 v Mallow 5:15

Having been beaten by Erins Own after extra time we had a losers round against a

fancied Mallow team. Mallow got an early goal which set them on their way, we held

our own until half time but Mallow were dominant in many sectors of the field in this

opening half. The real damage was done after half time with two quick goals in the

opening five minutes. There was no coming back at this stage and as the score

suggests Mallow were comfortable winners at the end. We are still involved in the

league and we had two good wins against Aghabullogue and Eire Og recently. This

is a very young Minor team with the trainers doing great work and the response

to training has been very positive.
