U16 Premier 2a Hurling Championship.

Fr. O’Neills 2:14 v Watergrasshill 1:19.

Having been beaten by Carrigtwohill in the first round we had a much better performance in

this losers round. The game was tight in the first half with the Hill.  leading at the break 10 points to 8.  Watergrasshill tagged on early points in the second half and a goal by Jason Hankard reduced the lead. We tried hard to the end and only for the side netting it could have been a

different result. No complaints though the Hill. had more on the age compared to us and that

extra strength was apparent in the second half. Watergrasshill lost their opening round to

Glen Rovers and having to take the scenic route they beat us, Carrigtwohill, Ballyhea, and

ended up meeting Glen Rovers in the final. This time they reversed the opening rnd. result winning by a point to win the County Final.

Willie Ryan Tournament

The Annual U12 Willie Ryan Hurling tournament was held in Rostellan last Saturday. It was a

fine sunny day and there was some great hurling played throughout. We played three group

games beating Carrignafhear 4:03 to 1:00, this was followed by an easy

win over Midleton 7:03 to 0:01, and the final game a win over the hosts Aghada 2:02 to 0:04.

This put us top of the group where we met Lisgould the other winners of their group in

the final proper. Lisgould ran out winners in the Final winning on a scoreline  of 0:04 to

0:01. We were runners up on the day and the lads deserve a clap on the back on getting

so far. Thanks to Aghada for the invite and on the excellent running of the Tournament and I can't think of a year where we have not taken part.

U12 Hurling Trip to Limerick Gaelic Grounds.

We were invited to the famed stadium to take part in the Annual Munster blitz. We played

Ennistymon, Blackrock of Limerick and Ballybricken winning all our games. Sean O Brien

a Limerick panellist gave us a tour of the stadium and there was also refreshments on the day. This was a great day and they all enjoyed themselves.

Cork U15 and U17 Hurling teams.

Peter Hassett and Ger Millerick had the honour of playing in the above teams in the All

Ireland Finals. Peter lined out at full back in all three games and he gave a fine account

of himself throughout in the Cork U15B. At the end of the day Cork were victorious

winning the tournament. Ger played Centre Back in all the games in the Cork U17A,

beating Tipperary, Galway, and Clare on route to the final. We met Kilkenny in the final

losing out on a scoreline of 1:09 to 0:11. This is the Eugene Carey tournament and many players have gone on to play for Cork at Minor and U21 level in the past few years. Cork were involved in all seven finals winning four in total. These two players have done alot of work over the last few years and it was no surprise to me that they did so well on Sat last.
