THE BATTLE OF GARRYVOE.

What a day and what a show, Garryvoe Hotel was packed to the rafters for last Sunday’s Battle of Garryvoe, in what has been described as one of the best days entertainment ever seen in Garryvoe Hotel our near neighbours took the bragging rights that were on offer and claim over the Garryvoe area for the moment, we had 12 Bouts of top class boxing and credit must go to all 24 Boxers for their whole hearted endeavour and commitment to training and on the day, both Clubs owe ye a huge word of thanks for all of this so well done lads, a word of thanks to all their helpers who played a huge part in the entrance for their Boxers, we had local Ballymacoda man Billy Aherne as MC and to say he was top class would be an understatement, hats off to you Bill. and well done. Our lighting, sound, camera and IT men were superb namely Mossie Tattan, Kieran Ivers, Billy Harrington, Kevin Ivers and Kieran Roche who put the whole package together on the day it was superb lads. The boxing side of proceedings were looked after by the Boxing dynasty that is the Walsh Family from Shanagarry, Maurice, Pa. and Kevin, along with our own Jason Kenneally a huge word of thanks for the time, effort and amount of preparation put in by these lads with the Boxers, in fact Jason’s input to the overall event on our Clubs behalf must get special mention and deserves a huge word of thanks from the Club, all of the above were part of the steering Comm. which included Michael Hegarty, Dan O’Connor, Tom Finn & Seamus Joyce from Fr. O’Neills along with Johny Walsh from Russel Rovers these 5 looked after all the advertising, sponsorship, programme preparation, ticket distribution and sales in the lead up to the event along with crowd control and stewarding on the day. A huge word of thanks also to all the stewards from both Clubs for their work. Our Cloakroom ticket sellers on the day were Jacinta Maguire, Rachel Joyce, Sheena Cronin & Michelle Scanlon who were coordinated by Tom Finn thank you and well done to all. Former Cork Senior Hurler Niall McCarthy presented all the Boxers with a special medal to mark the occasion. A big thank you also to the Management & staff of Garryvoe Hotel for all their help in the run up to last Sunday and on the day. Our sponsors of the event were, The Thatched Inn, Finns Tavern, Cllr. Michael Hegarty, O’Flynn’s Mace Service Station, BH Lift Trucks,  WOOD 4 GOOD, Hurleys Super Value, PAULONA, Velox Engineering, The Blackbird Ballycotton, Eoin Ivers Blocklaying Contractor and C2C Broadband a huge thank you to all who’s support helped in no small way to make it a great success, if I have missed out on anybody who helped in any way my apologies, so til the next time and there will be a next time cause we want our piece of land back and get it back we will !!!!.

Fr. O’Neills Boxers on the day were: Brian O’Callaghan, Dylan Cahalane, Shane Lee, Liam O’Driscoll, Trevor Kenneally, Sean Donnelly, Sean O’Connor, Elliot Mulcahy, Ken. Hegarty, Kevan Prendergast, Darragh Sexton.

Russel Rovers Boxers on the day were: Paul Lane, Luke O’Riordan, Jordan Kidney, Michael Duggan, Eoin McGrath, Stephen Wallis, Colman Quinlan, Shane Casey, Eoghan Cronin, Patrick Crowley, Jack McGrath, Aidan Beausang, Antoin Walsh.


Golf Society Xmas outing.

Our Xmas outing is to Youghal Golf Club on Tues. 27th Dec. The time sheet is now in O’Flynn’s Srv. Station.

Juvenile Club

Annual Raceday.

Our Annual Juvenile fun and race evening will be held on December 27th in Garryvoe Hotel

from 4pm to 7pm. We have been running this event the last number of years and it has

been very well supported and it is also a vital fundraiser for our Juvenile club. There will be

face painting and a quiz and obviously the races will be the main event.

Committee members are now out selling race tickets for the next few weeks, your

support will be much appreciated.
