Scór na Bpáistí County Final Success for the quiz team

Scenes of jubilation were witnessed in Ovens last week when Fr. O'Neills were crowned Cork County Scor Na Bpáistí Quiz Champions 2017 for the first time. The Fr. O'Neills team consisted of Michael Wall, Eoghan Rooney and Grace Rooney who are sixth class pupils in Kilcredan N.S. The competition began in early February and this was the fifth day out for the team. Questions are based on Irish History, GAA and general knowledge. The team members have put a lot of time and effort into preparing for the competition. We are delighted with their success and say well done to all of them and indeed to Kilcredan N.S. Principal Margaret Beusang and her fantastic staff, well done to all involved.

U16 Football League.

We played our first league game against Killara Og  a combination of Araglin and Kilworth.

On an awful day for football we came out second best in a scoreline of 0.4 to 0.1.With

the wind in the first half we had alot of wides which did not help our cause in the final

scoreline. Our second league game was played against Castlelyons where  we won on a

scoreline of 8.7 to 0.3. As the score suggests this was one way traffic against a very young

side .We brought Sean O Riordan, James Millerick and James Murphy up from the U14

team for this game and they all did well James Millerick and Sean O Riordan getting a

point each. Tougher assignments lay ahead a good work rate by all the players on the

day.

U16 Hurling Challenge.

Fr. O'Neills 1:09 v Killeagh / Itas 0:17.

In preparation for the upcoming Premier 2 Hurling Leagues this was a worthwhile game

played last Sat. In an evenly contested game we went in at the break down by 0.7

to 0.6. We went ahead midway through the second half but a few late points gave our opponents a five point victory. The new management team were reasonably happy with the performance with plenty spirit being shown in the camp.
