Congratulations to Peter Hassett who lined out for the Cork U16B Hurling team

who won the All Ireland last Saturday. Having beaten Waterford, Kilkenny and

Galway they reached the semi final against Tipperary which ended up

level after extra time with Cork winning out on a penalty shoot out. They played

Kilkenny in the final winning on a scoreline of 2:09 to 1:08.

Sean O Riordan played with the U14 Regional East Football team in a blitz comprising of

East ,North and City regions. They beat Clare in their first game and lost to West

Cork and Limerick in the other two games. Sean is doing very well with the Club in both U14, U15, U16 age groups and he did very well last Saturday with the East

Region team.

Fé 14 EAST HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

OUR U14 HURLERS ARE PLAYING AT EAST B LEVEL THIS SEASON. WE ARE IN A GROUP WITH ST VINCENTS,  AGHADA, ST COLMANS, MAYFIELD, ST CATHERINES AND LISGOOLD. HAVING COMPLETED THE LEAGUE WE HAVE WON 3 LOST 3. THIS LEAVES US SITTING MID TABLE WITH VINCENTS, CATHERINES AND AGHADA AHEAD OF US AND THE REST FOLLOWING. WE WERE UNLUCKY THIS YEAR TO NEVER HAVE A FULL SQUAD AVAILABLE TO US AT ANY TIME DUE PLAYERS BEING SICK AWAY ON HOLIDAYS ETC. A FEW GAMES WE LOST WE FELT COULD HAVE WON IF WE HAD EVERYONE. THIS CHANGED HOWEVER ON FRIDAY NIGHT LAST WHEN WE FACED AGHADA IN AGHAVINE WITH PANEL OF 25 PLAYERS FROM U12 UP. A GOAL AND A POINT FROM JAMES MURPHY AND A POINT FROM A FREE FROM RIAN O BRIEN  WAS NOT ENOUGH TO  HAVE US AHEAD AT HALF TIME WITH AGHADA SCORING 2-5.

WE ASKED FOR OUR PLAYERS TO STEP IT UP IN THE SECOND HALF AND THEY DID THIS IN STYLE ALL OVER THE FIELD. WE OUT SCORED ADHADA IN THE SECOND HALF  4-1 TO 1-3 LEAVING THE FINAL SCORE O'NEILLS  5:04 TO 3:08.  A GREAT POINT FROM PATRICK O LEARY AND GOALS FROM JAMES MILLERICK AND ANOTHER FROM JAMES MURPHY ONE FROM RIAN O BRIEN AND A GOAL FROM A FREE FOR ALL IN THE AGHADA SQUARE WERE ALL NEEDED TO LEAD BY TWO AT THE LONG WHISTLE.  OUSTANDING PREFORMANCES ALL OVER THE FIELD LEAD US TO THIS VICTORY OVER A TOUGH AGHADA SIDE. WE NOW PLAY THE WINNERS OF ST COLMANS AND LISGOOLD IN THE SEMI FINAL OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED.
